The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has sustained two new Area Seventies and released two others.

The announcement came Thursday, Sept. 28, during general conference leadership meetings, as published on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Leadership sessions of the Church’s 193rd Semiannual General Conference include the Church’s general authorities, general officers and Area Seventies.

The two newly sustained Area Seventies are Rogério Boschi, from the Fifth Quorum, which is the Brazil Area; and Kirt L. Hodges, from the Tenth Quorum, which includes the North America Central, North America Northeast and North America Southeast Areas.

The two released Area Seventies are Elder Youngjoon Kwon, from the Fourth Quorum, which includes the Asia and Asia North Areas; and Elder Henry J. Eyring, from the Tenth Quorum. They completed their service on Aug. 1, 2023.

Under the direction of the Presidency of the Seventy, Area Seventies meet with and teach Church leaders, missionaries and members of the Church in local congregations. The authority of Area Seventies is generally limited to the area where they serve.

Sustained

Elder Rogério Boschi, 46, São Paulo, Brazil; currently serving as president of the São Paulo Brazil Jardim da Saúde Stake; former bishop, bishopric counselor, high councilor, stake mission president and stake presidency counselor; partner-owner of the ClauHe Paralegal Association; married to Vivian Boschi; four children.

Elder Kirt L. Hodges, 64, Idaho Falls, Idaho; currently serving as a counselor in the Idaho Falls YSA Stake presidency; former bishop, high councilor and mission president; physical security manager with Battelle Energy Alliance; married to Shawna Hodges, four children.

Released

Elder Youngjoon Kwon has been serving as an Area Seventy since 2020, he previously served as president of the Seoul Korea South Stake; confirmed as a justice on South Korea’s Supreme Court in July 2023; attended Seoul National University School of Law, passed the bar exam in 1993 and entered the Judicial Research and Training Institute and he holds a doctorate is from Seoul National University and a master’s degree from Harvard Law School; former judge advocate general in the Navy; married to Yeonshin Lee, four children.

Elder Henry J. Eyring has been serving as an Area Seventy since April 2019 general conference; served as the 17th president of Brigham Young University-Idaho; former bishop, counselor in a bishopric, high councilor, stake president and mission president; married to Kelly Eyring, five children.
