Area Authority Seventies

Three new Area Authority Seventies were sustained and four Area Authority Seventies were released Oct. 2 at general conference. Those called are:

J. Devn Cornish, 48, Brockett Ward, Atlanta Georgia Stake, to the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy. He is a former stake president, bishop and high priests group leader. Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the Emory University School of Medicine, he graduated from BYU and Johns Hopkins University. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to George Oliver and Naomi Black Cornish. He and his wife, Elaine Simmons Cornish, are parents of six children.Manfred H. Schutze, 58, Bernburg Branch, Leipzig Germany Stake, to the Third Quorum of the Seventy and Europe East Area. He is a temple sealer, former president of the Germany Berlin Mission, stake president, district president and branch president. He is a graduate in languages of the University of Leipzig. He was born in Leippa, Germany, to Hermann and Else Martha Himpel Winkler Schutze.

Johann A. Wondra, 64, Vienna 2nd Ward, Vienna Austria Stake, to the Third Quorum of the Seventy and Europe East Area. He is a former president of the Frankfurt Germany Temple, Austria Vienna South Mission, regional representative, mission president's counselor, stake president and district president. He is a former assistant director and general secretary of the Burgtheater Wien. He received a Ph.D. in architecture, theater and art from the University of Vienna. He was born in Vienna, Austria, to Johann and Hedwig Schalk Wondra. He and his wife, Ursula Tischhauser Schutze, are the parents of four children.

Those released are Elders Max W. Craner of Rexburg, Idaho, and J. Kirk Moyes of Ogden, Utah, from the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy; Cesar A. Davila of Bogota, Colombia, from the Fourth Quorum of the Seventy; and P. Bruce Mitchell of Sydney, Australia, from the Third Quorum of the Seventy.

Brothers Craner, Mitchell and Moyes have been called to be presidents of the Logan Utah Temple, Sydney Australia Temple and Ogden Utah Temple, respectively. Brother Davila is currently the recorder of the Bogota Colombia Temple.
