Eight new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. The new leaders and their wives will begin service about July 1. Mission presidents' assignments were announced in the Feb. 26, 2005, issue of the Church News.

Dale Edwin Andersen, 58; Ukraine Donetsk Mission; Harris 2nd Ward, Mesa Arizona Central Stake; stake president; former stake executive secretary, bishop, ward Young Men president and missionary in the Finnish Mission. Attorney. Born in Provo, Utah, to Hans Verland and Shirley Hoyt Andersen. Married Susan Ramona Jacob, eight children.

A Relief Society teacher, Sister Andersen is a former ward Young Women president, Sunday School teacher, gospel doctrine teacher and missionary in the Australia Sydney Mission. Born in American Fork, Utah, to Calvin Keith and Ramona Monson Jacob.

Brian Bartley Carmack, 49; Mexico Tijuana Mission; Castlerock Ward, Idaho Falls Idaho Taylor Mountain Stake; bishop of the BYU-Idaho 36th Ward; former high councilor, ward Young Men president, Aaronic priesthood adviser and missionary in the Chile Mission. Vice president at Melaleuca Inc. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Harold Don and Beverlee Jean Bartley Carmack. Married Leslie Kay Porter, four children.

A Relief Society teacher, Sister Carmack is a former Young Women adviser, Sunday School teacher, Relief Society and Primary teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Nolan B and Helen Hackwell Porter.

Van Craig Gessel, 54; Oregon Portland Mission; Northridge 3rd Ward, Orem Utah Northridge Stake; regional welfare agent and institute instructor; former stake president, high councilor, bishop and missionary in the Japan Okinawa Mission. Professor of Japanese and dean of the College of Humanities at BYU. Born in Compton, Calif., to Easton Mathews and Harrietta Robinson Gessel. Married Elizabeth Darley, three children.

A ward organist and institute instructor, Sister Gessel is a former stake and ward Relief Society president, and Relief Society teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Roy M and Kathleen Latham Darley.

Randall Greene Harmsen, 59; California Anaheim Mission; Monument Park 15th Ward, Salt Lake Monument Park Stake; high priests group leader; former high councilor, bishop, gospel doctrine teacher and missionary in the Andes Mission. President and CEO of Centry Constructors & Engineers and president of West American Finance Co. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Eargle Clive and Lovinia Alice Greene Harmsen. Married Sharon Eldredge, six children.

A Church service missionary, Sister Harmsen is a former stake Young Women president, counselor in stake Young Women and Primary presidencies and ward music chairman. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Walter Joshua Eldredge Jr. and Marjory Hyde Eldredge.

Owner and manager of orchards. Born in Tucson, Ariz., to Merriner Larue and Winafred Alexander Jones. Married Lynnette Marie Jensen, four children.

Horacio Jorge Nieto, 52; Colombia Cali Mission; Ciudad Evita 1st Ward, Buenos Aires Argentina Aldo Bonzi Stake; former counselor in the presidency of the Argentina Buenos Aires West Mission, bishop and missionary in the Argentina Cordoba Mission. Formerly self-employed in commercial construction. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Carlos Elias and Vera Artemisa Bigliardi Nieto. Married Amelia Virginia Ratto, one child.

Sister Nieto is a former stake and ward Relief Society president, counselor in a ward Primary presidency and stake missionary. Born in Ramos Mejia, Argentina, to Oscar Emilio and Elba Elizabeth Rodriguez Ratto.

Paul Burton Price, 58; Samoa Apia Mission; Highland 5th Ward, Highland Utah Stake; counselor in a branch presidency at the Provo MTC; former stake Young Men president, high councilor, bishop, institute instructor and missionary in the Samoa Apia Mission. Seminary teacher in the Church Educational System. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Burton Horne and Mabel Ardis Rast Price. Married Christine Fern Weight, six children.

An institute instructor, Sister Price is a former ward Relief Society president, ward choir director and Primary chorister. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ormon Ralph and Fern Amelia Jones Weight.

Akira Yafuso, 64; Japan Hiroshima Mission; Shuri Ward, Naha Japan Stake; missionary in the Japan Fukuoka Mission; former stake and district president, bishop, branch president and missionary in the Northern Far East Mission. Head of the Naha branch of Sumitomo Life Insurance. Born in Takao, Taiwan, to Chumei and Naoko Nakayama Yafuso. Married Kiwako Tomihara, two children.
