President M. Russell Ballard has returned home following a short stay in the hospital, the Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wrote in a social media post on Thursday, Nov. 2.

“Following a wonderful and inspiring general conference, last week I suddenly found myself in the hospital with respiratory issues,” he wrote. “However, I have since been released from the hospital and returned home where I am attending to duties as I am able.”

President Ballard, who turned 95 on Oct. 8, has served for almost 50 years as a general authority.

Unable to read from the teleprompter, the Apostle spoke in general conference last month about the mission of Joseph Smith, Prophet of the Restoration, the divine authenticity of the Book of Mormon and his witness of the Savior Jesus Christ and His Church.

“Because we have Joseph Smith, the Prophet of this last dispensation of time, we have the Book of Mormon. What a marvelous, wonderful gift the Book of Mormon is to the membership of the Church,” he said.

“I know that our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ appeared and spoke to Joseph and prepared him … to restore the fullness of the everlasting gospel.”
