A site location for the Grand Rapids Michigan Temple — one of 18 new temples announced last month in October 2022 general conference by President Russell M. Nelson — has been announced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The location, map and general size description were published Monday, Nov. 7, on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Planning and design will continue for the temple, with additional information to be made public later, including exterior rendering and groundbreaking date.

Project leaders will begin working with city officials on preliminary plans for the temple, including filing public documents in coming months.

Plans for the Grand Rapids Michigan Temple call for a single-story building of approximately 20,000 square feet to be built on a 10.5-acre site at 2400 Forest Hill Ave. in Grand Rapids.

The temple will be the second in the state, joining the Detroit Michigan Temple, which was dedicated in October 1999.

More than 45,000 Latter-day Saints comprising nearly 100 congregations reside in Michigan. The first Latter-day Saints in the area were baptized only a year after the Church’s 1830 organization.
